Canadian startup X-Matik has introduced a system that turns any truck into a second-level drone of autonomy according to the SAE classification. The package was named LaneCruise, it will be available for purchase in 2019 at a price of $ 2,000.
LaneCruise is a system with a computing platform, a video camera with an integrated display, a steering wheel controller, and also includes accelerator and brake pedals. The system is able to identify other road users such as cars, motorcyclists, cyclists and pedestrians, as well as marking and traffic light signals.
During the movement of the vehicle, the autonomous driving system from Canadian developers allows the driver to remove his hands from the steering wheel. In the city, LaneCruise will operate in traditional cruise control mode with full braking and resume function.
X-Matik has already started accepting applications for the supply of LaneCruise on pre-order. To do this, it is enough to make a deposit in the amount of 199-999 dollars. Depending on the amount paid, the buyer will be given a discount, exclusive offers and the possibility of testing the system of autonomous driving.
As previously reported, the unmanned shuttle Navya got into the accident in the first hour of its testing.
